Sneak Peak - Barn Sale finds

Here are a couple pics of the 1930s dresses I got at my favorite Barn Sale spot. After much hemming and hawing I figured out that these are nursing dresses. I have never seen these before nor have I ever seen patterns for nursing dresses before. These 4 dresses were made by Lane Bryant under the Lanbry label after 1935 but by the style of them they can't have been made much after 1940. I'll do a full post most likely tomorrow with lots more pic b/c seriously, these dresses are cool. The last pink one and the maroon floral one need a little work, that jabot and lace is killing me. I took a lace collar (all yellowed and aged) off the maroon polka dot one and it made it awesome and more wearable. A little makeup and my hair-did would look much better too. But alas I'm sick again and didn't care.

  2. I saw your post over at We Sew Retro and I had to check out your blog. And then I noticed you're in upstate NY! I grew up just outside of Schenectady. If you're in that area, I may need to pick your brain about where to get some good fabrics! Congrats on the super finds!

  3. Unfortunately i'm not out by Schenectady but just a hair north of Bloomfield (south of rochester). It's the town with the Antique Mile ya know. :) Best barn hunting around. I do have a friend who just moved out by Syracuse and says she has the scoop on some amazing fabric shops and good junk shops too.

  4. Darn! It would have been nice to meet up with someone who understands my love off all things vintage :) My mom can't understand why I would ever want to wear a pair of cat eye glasses like she wore when she was a kid!
